Question: WHEN DO I NEED ACUPUNCTURE?
Answer: In general, chronic illnesses respond best to
acupuncture therapy. Such chronic conditions include: acne;
dermatitis; psoriasis; tension, cluster, vascular and migraine
headache; sinusitis and allergies; post-shingles pain; Bell's
Palsy; TMJ syndrome; bursitis, tendonitis and tennis elbow;
arthritis; sciatica; numbness or coldness of the hands and feet;
carpal tunnel syndrome; high blood pressure ; angina pectoris;
bronchitis, emphysema and asthma; heartburn; colitis;
constipation and nausea; bed-wetting; painful menstruation,
irregular periods, PMS and menopause; infertility, impotence and
frigidity; anxiety and depression; insomnia; chronic fatigue;
multiple sclerosis; Parkinson's disease; and stress-related
disorders. This is by no means a complete list, and Dr. Wang
invites your inquiries. |

Question: HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Answer: Acupuncture works on all levels of the body and mind,
and thus its potential is almost unlimited with regard to
relieving one's physical pains and soothing anxieties, nervous
tension and worry. We know that acupuncture triggers the
production of endorphins. These are powerful, opiate-like
hormones which are produced in the brain and which kill pain. In
Chinese theory the body is equipped with ch'i, or the energy of
life. When this energy is blocked or diverted in some way, the
body is sick or in pain. Through acupuncture the body's natural
healing powers are released and the ch'i is brought back into
balance. |

Question: HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I
NEED?
Answer: It depends on the severity of the disorder and how long
you have had it. In most cases there will be significant
improvement after three to six treatments. Acupuncture addresses
the cause of the illness rather than the symptoms. With each
subsequent treatment the effects are more profound and
longer-lasting. At first you can expect two or three treatments
a week. Within two or three weeks you should require fewer
treatments, eventually stretching to once a month or even less
frequently. Many people wait several years after their symptoms
resolve before needing further treatment. |

Question: CAN I GET AIDS OR INFECTIONS
FROM ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES?
Answer: No. Law
requires that acupuncture needles be used only once and then
disposed of. Brand new needles are purchased in sterilized
packaging, and then used only once before being discarded. |

Question: DOES MEDICAL INSURANCE COVER
ACUPUNCTURE?
Answer: Some medical insurance (ASHP, BC/BS) cover a portion of
acupuncture, however it depends on your individual plan. If your
insurance covers acupuncture we can bill the insurance on your
behalf and have the insurance pay you directly. Payment for
treatment is due at time of service. Medicare and Tricare do not
currently cover acupuncture. We do not accept MediCal. |
